1 year later

A whole year! where has the time gone?

I hope you have all been safe and well.

We have been up to much - sorting the house and garden and all those other real life things. And when I haven't been in the garden I've had my head in books. All lovely, but all a million miles from Mini's! I have been keeping up with your blogs and posts along the way and thought about coming back to it all  on several occasions but just didn't have it in me. For a while the Mini Bug all but left me and my interest dropped and I sold off the majority of my mini collection. It sounds drastic but it was quite liberating in a funny sort of way. And it has now freed me up to buy more goodies - as if an excuse was needed!

So, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I am just starting a new house made up from assorted room boxes but have little to share so I thought I would show you a couple of pictures from a room of a house I built earlier this year around Easter.

The fireplace isn't complete in the second picture but you get the idea.

I'm not sure when my next post will be but it will be within the next 12 months! In the mean time, enjoy your weekend, everyone, and happy mini-ing.

  1. Hi Simon! I'm glad you came back to blog, and I hope you will be more often here :-) your room with the fireplace already now looks very well!

  2. Hello Simon, nice to hear from you. I have had to pack away two of my three dollhouses and it actually feels a bit liberating (although it took me a while to get there). Your room looks very nice, love the blue chair! Take care, see you round, Pam x

  3. Helloooooo Simon! My word, a whole year! And I thought I had been away for a long time... Well you have been missed. You were brave to sell off your collection, but I can see how that gives you a kind of freedom. Whoever bought your collection will be very happy with it, and we will always have the photos, haha!
Lovely to see your beautiful work again which as usual is very elegant. Welcome back!

  4. Simon it is so good to see a new post from you. I have been wondering what you were up to. I hope you will get back to your miniatures.

I took a very long break once myself. Several years in fact.

  5. The room looks beautiful and cozy. I really like the fireplace.

  6. Hello Simon,
So glad to see your post, and revisit your wonderful rooms. I look forward to seeing your new projects in the coming year.
    Regards, Philip

  7. Good to see you back, I take breaks....very long ones too! Love the room...looks so real and I love the armchair and sofa!

  8. Hi Simon, Very nice to see your post pop up this morning. It is true you have been missed. A series of room boxes to create a whole seems very appealing at present. I look forward to seeing what direction you take.
    Regards. Janine

  9. me encanta como te está quedando, la chimenea poco queda para imaginar, es todo precioso.
¿Hasta otro año? jajaja...espero que sea antes, esta casa lo merece.
    Un abrazo

  10. Hello Simon! Nice to have you back in blogland! Sometimes you just need to do other things or pursue other interests. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in your new mini adventures!

  11. Hello Si
So, so glad to see you back!! You have been greatly missed :)
Your room is just lovely, so stylish.....but I would expect nothing else from a master!
Again, lovely to see you blogging again, and am looking forward to more.
    All the best

  12. Hi Simon! Great to see a post from you again! Yes.... blogland has been very very quiet lately... I keep hoping all my favorite bloggers will keep posting from time to time... and that they haven't given up entirely. But life has a way of needing attention sometimes. So I'm very happy to see you are still making beautiful minis! Love the fireplace... even half done!!! Keep up the great work... and let us see a glimpse every so often! :)

  13. Welcome back, Simon! If those pictures are any indication, the next house is going to be a stunner.

  14. Hello Simon! Does this mean that you sold your French House too?!!!! :((
These new photos have a very elegant and serene quality to them, I love the subtle paint colors that you have used on the walls mixed with the blues of the upholstered pieces.
    Beautifully done -
    as Always :D

  15. Hi Si,
It is great to see a new post from you and I am thrilled the mini bug seems to be coming around again. I totally respect any miniaturist who needs to get away from the hobby...but your talent would have been a great loss to the art of miniatures and a wonderful blog friend. The pictures are lovely and I can't wait to see more.
    Big hug,

  16. Welcome back Simon! I've wondered about you, so glad to see you post again and equally glad you are back in the saddle, however briefly! :0) Looking forward to seeing where you will take the next venture.

  17. Hello Simon (Irene waving). How good it is to see you back with the minis again and here's hoping the mini bug stays with you for some time. Loving the new project and itching to see more!

  18. Hi Simon, welcome back, good to see you again! Well, I guess sometimes people need a break from it, and apparantly you needed it. And selling a part of your stuff can be what you need, I think it might be a great way to start 'over'. Haha, no, no excuse needed maybe, but it never hurts to have some extra cash to spend on mini's :D I really like this room already, lovely dresser and I like the shape with the fireplace. Looking forward to your progress, enjoy!

  19. Hello Si, so good to read you again! :)
That garden of yours must look spic and span by now lol
Hope that mini virus keeps working you and owwwwwhhhhhh so sorry you sold part of your miniatures, you have/had such a lovely collection!
    Your pics look lovely but
I sincerely hope it won't take another year for you to post again, my friend, we've missed you far too long as is!
    Take care,
    big hug,
